     A crash of thunder jolts me awake. I look around, disoriented. Lightning flashes, throwing a bright flash of light into the room. I shake my head at my silliness, hunkering back down into bed, pulling the blanket back up. I roll over toward my wife, gaining comfort from her still sleeping figure.     I'm glad that she's still sleeping. Storms scare her and I try to protect her any way that I can.
